Here are just a few ideas to help in having a safe and happy holiday. For Trkk-or-Treaters: Carry a flashlight so you can see and you can be seen Wear reflective tape Stay on sidewalks Obey traffic signals Cross streets at lighted crosswalks cross-walks and do not cut across street Stay in familiar neighborhoods Bring a watch you can see in the dark Children's shoes should fit the child Do not wear masks while walking from house to house In areas where there are no sidewalks, walk on the left side of the road facing traffic vo that drivers dri-vers can see ouu Go to houses where the lights are on Do not go to home that are dark Do not try to pet animals Parents: Hae dinner before going trick-or-treating Children should be accompanied accompa-nied by an adult Older children should wear a watch that can be seen at night Set a time hen your children should be home Know where and with whom your children are gtung trick-or-treating Buy costumes that are flanie-retardant flanie-retardant Be sure to check your chil dren's candy when they get home before any candy is eaten Tois out any candy that looks suspicious Homeowners: Check your yard to make sure it is free of ladders, hoses, flower pots and any debris that could trip young trick-or-treaters. Make sure your steps and sidewalks are not cluttered. Pets could be frightened on Halloween. Put them away for the night. I'se battery powered lights instead of candles.
