Three workshops being offered by USU-UBBC this summer combine com-bine the opportunity to earn college col-lege credit with the prospect of travel and adventure. The workshops work-shops are Trails West (History 491 06880), under the leadership of John Barton, Writing 00 Rivers (English 4630), to be ted by Alan Blackstock and Vini Exton, and Shakespeare on Stage (English 4360Theatre 5290), directed by Nels Carlson arid Alan Blackstock. Trails West will involve a len-day len-day trip (May 26-June 2) through Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho visiting vis-iting historical sites related to the Indian Wars and Mountain Man rendezvous . Students who enroll in the Writing on Rivers workshop (July 23-28) will read essays, stories, and poems by American writers on the subject of rivers. During and after a day-long raft trip on the Green River, they will be encouraged to produce their own creative responses respons-es to their experience of the river. The Shakespeare on Stage workshop work-shop (July 9-14) features a trip to the Utah Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City at which students will be treated to live productions by noted Shakespearean actors and directors of Julius Caesar, The Tempest, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Each of these provides a memorable memo-rable opportunity for teachers to gain re licensure credit as required by the new Board of Education requirements for public educators. An additional class to consider would be the Infancy, Childhood, and Adolescence Conference, a nationally recognized conference, will be broadcast May 14-18 for the first time. This class can be used as elective credit toward masters mas-ters programs in education as well as licensure. Graduate or endorsement endorse-ment classes in ESOL will be available, avail-able, as well as Reading Assessment and Diagnosis, and several Stress Management and Grant Proposal Writing workshops.
