NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Extension of Tax Credits The Air Quality Board propose to amend RJ07-1-6 2, Eligibility of Expenditure Ex-penditure for Purchase of Vehicle that Use Cleaner Burning Fuel or Conversion Conver-sion of Vehicle to Use Cleaner Burning Fuels for Corporate and Individual Income Tax Credits, to bring die rule into agreement agree-ment with changes made by the 1996 Legislature in S.B. 218. The changes extend ex-tend income tax credits for conversion to clean fuels through December 31, 2001, and extend applicability ap-plicability to include off-road off-road mobile equipment such as forklifts and construction con-struction equipment. The tax credits are 20, up to $400, for the cost of converting con-verting an on-road vehicle to use a cleaner fuel, or 20, up to $500, for purchasing pur-chasing a new vehicle using us-ing a clean fuel or for converting mobile equipment equip-ment to clean fuel. The changes require that fuel conversion systems sys-tems be certified by the Air Quality Board and that proof be provided to indicate that the vehicle's emissions are lower after conversion. Using cleaner fuels helps reduce fine particulate, ozone and carbon car-bon monoxide. These changes will encourage use of cleaner fuels for construction equipment during the rebuilding of I-15 I-15 in Salt Lake County, which is currently a nonattainment area for those pollutants.
