This section was adopted in the early 1980s as part of the controls on volatile organic organ-ic compounds because VOCs contribute to formation for-mation of ozone. On March 8, 1996, perchloroethylene per-chloroethylene was deleted delet-ed from the federal list of VOCs because further testing indicates . perchloroethylene per-chloroethylene does not, in fact, contribute- to ozone formation. Perchloroethylene Per-chloroethylene is, however, howev-er, a hazardous air pollutant pollu-tant and is now regulated under the provisions of 40 CFR Part 63, Subpart M, National Perchloroethylene Perchloroethy-lene Air Emission Standards Stan-dards for Drycleaning Facilities, Fa-cilities, which is incorporated incorpo-rated by reference into the Utah Administrative Code atR307-10-2(c). UDOT crews are laying asphalt and widening the two lanes of Highway 40 6 miles west of the Colorado border. Several lane restrictions re-strictions are in effect and the speed limit is 45 mph through the work zone. Also, crews are rebuilding the Ashley Creek Bridge, east of Vernal. A detour provides no traffic delays; however, the speed limit has been decreased to 45 mph in the work zone. Both projects should be completed by mid-June. Uintah High School 1996 graduation went as planned in spite of inclement weather conditions. is Resident arrested for assault and spouse abuse A Uintah County resident was arrested ar-rested Friday, May 24, after throwing throw-ing his wife off the front porch. Friday deputies were dispatched to a family fight in the Davis area of Uintah County. After deputies arrived, it was determined that Gary Lee Olson, 40, had pushed his wife off the front porch of their residence. resi-dence. A neighbor came to her assistance as-sistance and was struck several times by Olson with a shovel handle. han-dle. He was arrested by Deputy Vance Norton for spouse abuse and aggravated assault. Couple arrested for marijuana possession After responding to a domestic dispute in the Maeser area, May 23, Uintah County deputies found 33 marijuana plants at the residence. Deputy Anthoney Byron, assisted by Det. Sgt. Jeff Merrell ' and' Corporal John Laursen, responded to the residence in the Maeser area. While speaking to the husband, Deputy Byron observed what appeared ap-peared to be numerous marijuana plants growing in the couples' bedroom. bed-room. Also some drug paraphernalia parapherna-lia was found. Deputy Byron arrested the husband hus-band and later the wife for cultivation cultiva-tion of marijuana, a third degree felony, possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor and possession posses-sion of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor. Various items including in-cluding the marijuana plants were seized by the deputies. Arrested and booked into the Uintah County Jail were Don Keith Critton, 40, and Conni W. Critton, 34.
