Any interested interest-ed person may protest the annexation by filing a signed written protest with the County Clerk of Uintah County at or before be-fore the June 4, 1996, public hearing. Any withdrawal with-drawal of protest or cancellation can-cellation of withdrawal shall be done at or before the June 4, 1996, public hearing. Any protest signed on behalf of a corporation owning property in the District shall be sufficient if it is signed by the president, presi-dent, vice president, or any duly authorized agent of the corporation. Where title to any property is held in the name of more than one person, all of the persons holding title to the property must join in the signing of the protest. At said public hearing, or at any subsequent time to which the hearing may be adjourned, the Board of County Commissioners will give full consideration considera-tion to all protests that have been filed and will hear all interested persons desiring to be heard. Following the hearing, the Board of County Commissioners shall adopt a resolution either annexing said Taxing Unit 18 to the District or determining de-termining that Taxing Unit 18 may not be annexed an-nexed to the District. The resolution may contain any changes the Board of County Commissioners determines to be equitable and necessary, including changes in the boundaries of the annexation to the District, to assure that annexation an-nexation to the District does not contain property that will not be benefited by the proposed improvements. improve-ments. The purpose of the proposed action is to recover commercial value of woody material, improve administrative access along the Marsh Bench Road, and reduce long term hazard of wildfire wild-fire by removing and modifying some forest fuels. fu-els. While a final decision has not been made, the proposed action has been identified as the preferred alternative. Other alternatives alterna-tives considered were a 'no project' alternative, and an alternative that salvaged sal-vaged wood immediately along the road corridor only, treating about 150 acres. Powers Jacqueline Withee Melvin LaVern Powers, bom May 28, 1921 in Phillipsburg, Kan., the son of Jess and Elsie Powers, died peacefully at his home on May 14, 1996. He spent his life working in the oil field and loved working with his cattle and race horses. He was a very loving father and husband. He enjoyed his grandchildren grandchil-dren and liked to take them for rides on his tractor and horses. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, sisters, and one daughter, as well as a son-in-law and a grandson. He is survived by his wife, Norma; sons and daughters, Donna Gerken of Whitman, Neb., Verna Fitts (Doug) of Newport, Ore., Judy Fittipaldi (Vince) of Eugene, Ore., Kat Christensen (Randy) of Cedar City, Connie Moore (Dick) of Vernal, Rick Wallace (Livi) of West Jordan, Holly Wilkins (Stuart) of Vernal, Robert Powers (Alecia) of Springfield, Mo'., ,Dawn Dana (Dale) of Clifton, Colo., 24 grandchildren, grand-children, and 11 great-grandchildren. Walker Marvin Howard Walker, age 77, a former resident of Woodland and Vernal, died May 6, 1996 in Vancouver, Wash. He was born June 29, 1918 in Vernal, a son of George Oscar and Florence Lola Winn Walker. He married Barbara LeBlanc in 1946. He and his wife had lived in Woodland since 1967. He was a retired operating engineer with Local 701 of Portland. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Woodland Ward and also the Moose Lodge No. 207S of The Dalles, Oregon. He was a veteran of WWII and served with the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Walker of Woodland; three brothers, Owen Walker, Green River, Wyo., Ncldon Walker, Canton, III., and Lowell Walker, Orem; lister, Alice Hanson, American Fork; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, Brent Walker, a daughter, JoAnn Sladc, a brother, Floyd Walker, and sister, lrma Turner. A memorial service was held Thursday. Hacking r - V I X I r N I ' ' i s ' ' M". MOW 3 J J f Jackie Withee Jacqueline (Jackie) Ann ' Hoag Withee, 64, of Vernal, died May 11, 1996 at the Ashley Valley Medical Center in Vernal. She was born March 17, 1932 in Burlington, Vt., a daughter of John Joseph Hoag Jr. and Florence Hazel Gravelle Hoag. She married Earl Roland Withee on Jan. 16, 1953 in Burlington, Vt. He died Jan. 27, 1994. Jackie was a homemaker and also worked for the state of Vermont in the insurance department. She was a member of the LDS church in Vemal First Ward. She served as a jrelief society visiting teacher. Jackie loved music and loved to play the violin, piano, harmonica and ukulele. She also enjoyed singing. She was the "Donut Girl" for the USO in Vermont during WWII. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She is survived by her two sons, Rodney Earl Withee of Vemal, and John Roland Withee of Deer Trail, Colo, and one daughter, Roberta Withee of San Jose, Calif.; and seven sev-en grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 18, 1996, 7 p.m. at the Vemal First Ward chapel, 250 North 200 West, Vernal, with Bishop Dan Heiner conducting. Opening prayer was offered by Jay Turner. A musical selection, "Beyond the Sunset," was sung by Don Walker, Marvi Lent, and Lois Dickson with dedication offered by Lowell Walker.
