Show 12 Vernal Express Wednesday, January 3, 1996 1 x'.Vv1 The Ringing of the Bells January 4. 1896 The crowded streets all wait For President Cleveland to send word That we'd become a state. We'd tried for forty-five long years; Each time they answered, "NO." If they don't grant our wish this time. Discouragement will grow. Every one had surely felt We'd gain success this time. And we all waited anxiously To get word on that line. They'd formed our constitution. We voted it last fall. And held our first election. We're listening for that call. Everything is now ready And all are standing by. So we pause with bated breath And pray to God on high. The bells are held in silence Because we all had one. If you couldn't find yours. Those cows could lend you some. They telegraphed the message, "Utah's the forty-fifth state!" Our hard work has all paid off. It opened freedom's gate. We rang the big old school bells And trolley cars and train. We honked and rang and shouted. And rang those bells again. Those cowbells and the sleigh bells. And beat the old tin pan. We finally have won the cause. Our prayers were heard again. Written by Beulah D. THIS A NEWSPAPER AD ABOUT NEWSPAPER AD i .t's an advertisement for advertisements. This newspaper ad will tell your how effective newspaper ads can be for your business. Because every week adults go one-on-one with a newspaper. Just exactly like you're doing right now. At this very moment, you're reading and enjoying while you get information and entertainment. Your concentration and attention are focused on this ad. And this ad alone. That concentration, very simply, is the power of newspaper. Radio and television wish they could command that kind of attention from their listeners. But, too many times, radio and television commercials become little more that background noise. When people turn to their paper, they turn there with interest. Which means that's where your advertising message needs to be. With all the choices available, it's difficult deciding how best to advertise your business. But everything becomes a little simpler when you remember one rule.
