They will be honored hon-ored at a reception following the wedding. Kara is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bowen of West Jordan. J.P. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hendricks of Roy and a 1988 graduate grad-uate of Uintah High School. Paul and Deb Hendricks will host a garden buffet for the couple at their home in Roy on Friday, May 14. Clubs Xi Alpha Xi Members of Xi Alpha Xi met on May 3 at the home of Terry Putscher. Following the business meeting, members were given wreaths and officer pins as a symbol of appreciation from President Terry Putscher. As a follow up to guest speaker Shirleen Jaussi, the video, "Solo" was watched. New officers were installed. They are: Crystal Kenczka, president; Geo Mortenson, vice president; Karine Simper, treasurer, and Terry Putscher, secretary. On April 29, Xi Alpha Xi members mem-bers attended the 63rd anniversary of Founders Day for Beta Sigma Phi. "Woman of the Year" and "Pilgrim of the Year" were awarded to Putscher. Gamma Beta Members of Gamma Beta met at the home of Donna Myers on Monday, May 3. The program included in-cluded the installation of new officers offi-cers and the door prize was won by Melinda Rollins. The next club meeting will be Monday, May 17. The program will include the revealing of secret sisters sis-ters and names of secret sisters will be drawn next year. Cultural Arts Club Members of the Cultural Arts Club met at the home of Mildred Mansfield on April 21. A luncheon was served to 15 members. Jean Guy presented a program on her trip to Japan and Korea with the Business and Professional Women's Organization. She explained the culture cul-ture and country to the members by showing pictures and a collection of gifts she purchased while there. J.P. and Kara will graduate from Southern Utah University in Cedar City in June and plan to make their home in Cedar City while J.P. pursues pur-sues a masters degree in business administration. Kara is the southern correspondent for Channel 4 News and an associate at Wal-Mart. She will continue to build her career in broadcasting from the Cedar City area. Following graduation from the university, the couple are planning a honeymoon cruise in Mexico. Beaux Arts Club Members of Beaux Arts Club met at the home of Helen Spendlove on Wednesday, May 5. President Ruth Johnson .welcomed Trevelene Hall back home and announced to the members that the Halls would be speaking in Sacrament Meeting on Sunday, May 9. The nominating committee met and new officers for the year starting start-ing in September were elected. The new officers will be: June Stewart, president; Elaine Hall, vice president; presi-dent; Norma Wardle, secretarytreasurer, secretarytrea-surer, and Kathylene McOmber remaining re-maining as historian. This year's officers of-ficers were given a vote of thanks. The annual June jaunt will be held this year on June 17 at Whiterocks campground and the summer party will be on July 7 with more information infor-mation forthcoming. Clara Price arranged for her husband, hus-band, Representative Dan Price to speak to members about how laws are formed and passed. The House of Representatives has 75 members with each one serving approximately approximate-ly 23,000 constituents. Contrary to what is heard through the media, Representative Price said most lobbyists lob-byists are helpful. There are many places a bill, after introduction, can be cut, changed or delayed. Progressive Arts Club Eleanor Eaton and Isla King presented pre-sented a lecture including film to the members of the Progressive Arts Club. The ladies' presentation was on Israel and the Holy Land where they visited this past winter. Maps and charts were also used to give their impressions of the conditions there. Veda Hatch and Erva Bowden, along with Marva Lent were the hostesses during the meeting. The couple will be married the afternoon af-ternoon of Saturday, May 15 at the home of the groom's parents in Ogden. They will be honored at a reception immediately, following the wedding ceremony. Elizabeth graduated from Union High School and Weber State University. She currently is employed em-ployed as an insurance adjuster for Allstate Insurance Company. Craig graduated from Weber High School and Weber State University. He is a professional calf roper with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Following a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple will make their home in Ogden with the expectations expecta-tions of moving to the Uintah Basin in the near future. Golden AgeNews First picnic planned by Ada Murray The first picnic of the summer season will be Thursday, May 13 at Steinaker. The vans will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Golden Age Center. A Social Security representative will be at the National Guard Armory on Wednesday, May 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Commodities will be distributed on Friday, May 21 to all senior citizens 60 years of age and older who meet eligibility criteria. - The sixth annual conference for seniors, hosted by Senator Orrin Hatch will be held Wednesday, June 2 in Salt Lake City. Anyone desiring to attend should register by Friday, May 14. The registration feel will be $3 per person which includes lunch and conference materials. For more information, contact the Golden Age Center at 789-2169. A bus will be furnished for the transportation. "Sparky" Hudson of Bluebell, entertained en-tertained during lunch last Monday. He sang some old time favorites and accompanied himself by playing several different instruments including includ-ing the banjo, mandolin and violin. He was accompanied by Amy Allen during the last few songs. Iola East, Dode and Lucille Shanno and Lucille Lipphardt were all visitors. Forty-six people attended the dance Friday night honoring mothers. moth-ers. A fan was presented to each lady la-dy at the dance in observance of the upcoming weekend. A pot luck lunch was served during intermission. intermis-sion. Dancing will be offered at the Center every Friday night from 9 p.m. to 12 midnight. Those seniors reported to be in the hospital last week were: Doris Ross, Fredrick Korger and Margaret Baum. A big "get-well" greeting is sent to them. On Tuesday, May 4, Myril Bodily, Jean Staten and Phyllis Warby won four games each at bingo to place' first. Helen Maxfield and Mary Boren came in second with three games each! Mildred Long was the bingo winner for the month of April representing the Friday games; and Mollie Stockton was April's winner for Tuesday's games. James Kaloi Winward and Laloi to marry in Salt Lake Temple Laura L. Winward and K. James Kaloi (Kimo) have chosen Saturday, May 22 to be married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Laura is the daughter of Lloyd and Alta Winward of Vernal and is a' 1985 graduate of Uintah High School. In 1989 she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Utah. While attending the University, she affiliated affili-ated with Alpha Chi Omega and continues to volunteer as the National Director of Training. Laura is currently employed by Congressman James V. Hansen in Washington, D.C. Kimo is the son of K. Daniel Kaloi of Kona, Hawaii and Maureen Morgan of Long Island, New York. In 1992 he graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science sci-ence and international relations. Kimo affiliated with Kappa Sigma fraternity and is in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He is employed by Nations Bank and plans to attend law school in the future. Following their marriage, the couple cou-ple will reside in Arlington, Vir. 'ii MAESER PRINCIPAL, Lyle Southam accepts $2,000 contribution from PTA President, Lauri Jo Crane.
