Church of Christ to conduct Gospel meeting The Church of Christ announces gospel meeting to be held April 23 through April 26 at 7 p.m. each evening even-ing and at regular service hours Sunday. These meetings will be conducted by Clayton Bussard who has preached the gospel for the Churches of Christ for 48 years conducting gospel meetings in all the western states. He has engaged in gospel campaigns in Central America, Africa and Singapore. He is a regular panel member on "The One Way," a live television program which features call-in questions and answers from the Bible. He has conducted "The Bible Class cf the Air," a one hour radio program, pro-gram, for 16 years. He is currently serving as minister to the Cherry Street Church of Christ in Sanger, Calif. Everyone is welcome to these meetings. Stake conference this weekend, April 25-26 The Vernal Utah Uintah Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announces its stake conference schedule for this coming weekend, April 25 26 to be held at the Vernal . Utah Stake Center at 4OB0 South 2"oo East in Vernal. The Saturday evening adult session will begin at 7 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m. This meeting is for all adults ages 18 and over. The CiiY r Youth invited to attend conference Youth from around the Uintah Basin and other parts of state are making plans to attend the youth conference, con-ference, "Celebrate Life," Saturday, May 2 at Uintah Basin Area Vocational Voca-tional Center in Roosevelt. An outstanding group of professional profes-sional presenters will join local experts ex-perts in workshops and presentations. presenta-tions. Among them will be "A Fine Line," (Youth Are Not Invincible) from the Stewart Rehabilitation Center, McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden. The Fine Line group is made up of young people who suffered disabilities from accidents. They have shared their stories with thousand thou-sand of high school and college students and servicemen and have appeared on radio, television and in magazine articles. These young people peo-ple learned the hard way that they are not invincible. They tell of drugs, speed, and mistakes that lead to their accidents and how they have began making new lives. Their goal is to keep other youth from having to learn, "the hard way." Other outstanding speakers will be Jevon Thompson, famous for "Just Say No," ; Darol L. Wagstaff and Ric Smith, "Celebrate Life." Presentors will include: Tom Jackson, Juanita Allen, R.N., Dr. Robert G. Vincent, Rose Anna Miller and Neal Smith. They will cover topics such as teeit pregnancy, teen depression and suicide, coping with parents and self esteem. The conference will feature workshops for parents as well which will be, "Encouraging and Motivating Your Child," and "Parents are the Answer." The conference is sponsored by the youth group, "Kids With Energy," under the direction of Rose Anna Miller. There is no admission charge and lunch will be served to everyone. Brian Goodrich earns rank of Eagle Scout Troop No. 951, sponsored by the First Baptist Church, and part of the Utah National Parks Council, announces an-nounces that Brian L. Goodrich has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. The Eagle ceremony took place Sunday, April 12 at the First Baptist Church in Vernal. Goodrich graduated into Boy Scouts where he had earned Cubs' highest award, the Arrow of Light. As a Boy Scout, he has earned eight of the 12 skill awards and 27 of the 10 merit badges, of which 12 are Eagle requirements. re-quirements. Brian completed his Eagle project clearing away debris, rubble, and fallen trees from a creek in the Ashley National Forest. The truck load of wood allowed was taken to a needy family in the Ashley Valley. The chairman of the Eagle ceremony was Max Stewart, Troop 951 committee chairman. DeVon Smuin is the troop's scoutmaster and he presided presid-ed over the presentation of, the earned earn-ed award. Brian's mothers, Wanda Murray, his step-father Rod Murray, and his grandfather, Rulon Goodrich, were in the place of honor beside Brian. His grandfather pinned the badge on Brian's uniform and Brian presented his grandfather with the father's pin. District commissioner, Jay Vay Campbell, gave Brian the charge of the Eagle and presented him with the certificate and letter of recognition Scholarships offered by USUEC The Utah State University's Uintah Basin Education Center is offering six scholarships for the 1987-88 school year. These scholarships cover tuition only; on-ly; the recipients will need to pay the' university fees. The scholarships are awarded on academic, scholastic basis without regards to financial need. These scholarships are for undergraduates only and are for a duration of three quarters (fall, winter, spring). Recipients will need to register for a minimum of 12 credit hours each quarter. Scholarship forms can be picked up at either the Roosevelt or Vernal Education Center offices and should be submitted to the USU Education Center by May 1. The video of Brian's Eagle project was viewed at the reception following and proved to be an interesting part of the evening. Training day for Webelos leaders Webelos outdoor training for leaders, cub masters and other interested in-terested parties, will be Saturday, April 25 from 9a.m. to 4 p.m. at Horse Shoe Bend. Registration will begin at 8:45. The fee is $5 which includes lunch and materials. Hot chocolate and rolls will be served in the morning.
