The action on Memorial weekend is a prime example ex-ample of how stepped up enforcement enforce-ment can reduce the accident statistics. There were only two drunk driving arrests which is less than an average weekend. A total of 152 speeding citations were issued and there were three property damage accidents with only one very minor injury. Sgt. Les Langford said a road block north of Vernal where 300 vehicles were stopped, produced only two drinking drivers, neither of whom were drunk. The patrol plane found so few speeders (less than expected) on the highway on Friday and Saturday, that its Sunday patrol was cancelled Langford said, "Now that's what I call a success!" Troopers.., to meet June 1 victim of accident The Uintah Historical Society will Five year old Mavis Cuthair lost her life when she was hit and run over by a pickup truck, Thursday, May 23 at 6 p.m. in Fort Duchesne. They are controlling con-trolling traffic on holidays while the majority of the public are at home with their families. They keep the highways in better conditions by controlling the weight of loads carried by trucks. The hours loads can be moved on the highways and the safety of the heavy trucks equipment are also checked by the patrol.
