Show Wednesday, April 3, 1985 Vernal ExpreHdveftlsef 23 A 1 Topics Club says sale is success People were lined up for blocks for the opening of the Current Topics Club twenty-fifth annual rummage sale Saturday, March 30 at the National Na-tional Guard Armory in Vernal. The first sale was held in the old Collier Building where Frontier Travel is now housed. Numerous buildings have accommodated the sale over the years, according to club member, Lillian" Henderson. The Western Sports Store, Odd Fellow building, Utah Motor garage, St. James Catholic Church hall and the Elks Lodge have all been used in the past. This is the third year the sale has been at the armory. There were hundreds searching through the collection of clothing, household items, and new merchandise merchan-dise (donated by area merchants), which was contributed for the event. Proceeds of the rummage sale are used for community service projects each year by the Current Topics Club. A new feature of this year's sale was the awarding of door prizes. Lucky recipients of three afghans, created and donated to the club by Mary Johnson, were: Michelle Werner, Wendy Long and Kathern Gardner. Tickets were given at no charge for the afghan drawing. Chairman of the sale was Thelma Wright. Carolyn Duke is president of the thirty member group who all worked toward the success of the sale. Following the sale, Current Topics members held a party for their husbands and guests at the home of Don and Meg Hatch. Marjorie Gagon arranged the occasion with her committee, com-mittee, Wilma Webb and Meg Hatch. Forty guests were present at the dinner din-ner and evening of entertainment. Buena Vista DUP have March meet Camp Buena Vista DUP held their March meeting at the home of Mildred Mansfield. Captain Blanch Smith conducted and the invocation was given by Leta Bullock. The pledge of allegiance was given, and roll call and minutes of the February meeting were read by Marccll Roper. A history was given by Gloria Mansfield, a new member from Bluebell, on her folks and the school teachers she knew. The Lesson was given by Louesa Hacking on pioneer fashions. Luncheon was served by Mildred Mansfield, assisted by Gloria Mansfield, to nine members. The April meeting will be at the home of Myrtle Moore.
