The Utes got out of the jam when Ballard struck out on a blazing pitch by Mike Robbins. Uintah's LeBeau struck out, but Robbins got on the bases on an error in the top of the third inning. However, Uintah's scoring threat died as Robbins Rob-bins took off for second base on the pitch and Gurr popped up and the ball was fired to first base for a doubleplay. Two more runs were added by Orem in the bottom of the third inning for a 4-0 lead over the Uintah Utes. Jim Fowler flew out to Ryan Siddoway, second se-cond baseman, in shallow right field. Orem gained two base runners when Brad Eagar and Mackay singled. Roberts connected with the baseball for a single and knocked in Eagar and Mackay for an Orem lead of 4-0. Severens grounded out and Robbins whiffed Hoyal to get out of the inning. The Uintah Utes scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning with two outs to cut the Orem lead to two runs x at 4-2. Nelson got on base on an error and Swim was walked. Robb hit the baseball, but Orem's shortstop captured cap-tured the bouncing ball, tagged out Nelson and got Robb at first base for a doubleplay. Richens and Smuin were hit by Orem pitcher Gammell to load up the bases and Hansen came through for the Utes with a single up the middle, which drove in Swim and Richens and made the score 4-2 in favor of Orem.
