Applications for the annual Leadership Park City training program are due shortly. They must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21 for the Leadership Park City class that runs from the fall of 2015 until the fall of 2016. Leadership Park City introduces participants to the mechanics of the Park City community. During monthly sessions they learn about local governments, the not-for-profit sector, the business community and numerous other topics. The program is preparing for its 22nd class. More than 550 people have graduated from Leadership Park City, organizers say. The next Leadership Park City class begins with a welcoming reception on Oct. 8 and an orientation three days later. There are monthly sessions focused on topics like the economy, local government and the broad topic of leadership. A trip to the state Capitol is normally one of the highlights of the class. The Leadership Park City class also chooses a project to undertake. Past classes have pursued a range of topics related to topics like diversity and the environment. Leadership Park City accepts up to 32 people each year. A selection committee consisting of representatives from groups that sponsor Leadership Park City and community members reviews the applications People who are selected for Leadership Park City receive a scholarship that covers the costs. The scholarship is worth $2,500. Leadership Park City participants travel on the annual City Tour to destinations in the West.
