Playing in high winds, the Miners boys soccer team was literally being blown around the Wasatch High School field while simultaneously managing to blow away ihe Uintah Utes 4-0." In the first half of play, the wind was againsl the Miners. The very athletic Utcs capitalized on this and both teams were scoreless heading into the half. "Going against the wind, our defense did a good job. It's hard to defend the ball." said head coach Mike Guetsehow. In the second half, the wind and Uinlahs legs bolh wore oul. The wind shifted in Ihe Minors' favor and they began passing the ball very efficiently. The Utes were unable to keep up with ball in the stiff winds and soon faded, giving up four goals in a row. "In the second half, we were passing the ball around and it's exhausting to chase the ball." said (iuetschow. Shea Cumin scored the first two goals in the early minutes of the second half. Minutes later. Reed Baker added another off of a corner kick, followed by Nick (iundcrson to finish the afternoon. "It was probably ihe besl game we had in terms of passing," said Chietschow. 'Hie defense did their parl in the second half as well. "'Ilie defense did a good job of winning the ball and distributing it to the midfielders. In the wind, that can be a challenge." said Guelschow. "We had a couple of longrange shots. Thais hard to do in a 30-milcan-hour winds." The Miners are now preparing to finish out ihe challenging part of their Region 10 season. Coming off of one of their besl games both offensively and defensively.
