Show The Park Record Sat/Sun/Mon/Tue, February 5-8, 2005 COUNTY SEAT A-5 COUNTY EDITOR: Patrick Parkinson 649-9014 ext. 112 countynews@parkrecord.com Richer comes under fire in Wasatch He claims 'victory' Thursday after board approval By PATRICK PARKINSON Of the Record stuff Daniel residents in Wasatch County are unhappy with Summit County Commissioner Rob Richers plans to develop more than 40 acres he owns in the township. The Wasatch County Boundary Commission Thursday vetoed a recent objection from the Wasatch County Council, which prevented Richer and his partner, Park Ciiy resident Rob Karz, from annexing the land into Hcber. City officials will now weigh in on the deal. "We consider it a victory."' Richer said. Skirmishes have occurred throughout the annexation process between Richer and Wasatch County residents, which have left a sour taste in the mouths of many in Summit County's neighbor to the south. Richer and Kar/,-"aren't popular" in Wasatch County, because of "where t hey're from a nd how they've conducted themselves." said Hcber resident Curt Taylor, a member of ihe boundary commission, an appeal board charged with deciding boundary disputes in Wasatch County, adding that the Park City residents nuisl be treated equitably. In a 5 to 2 vote, only board members Mike Duggin and Eric Bunker, both of Daniel, opposed the annexation Thursday. "It's an annexation that speaks for only one thing and that's a radical change of density." said Daniel resident Kelly Jams, former chairman of planning in the township. "If it was really for services like the statutes accommodate, that's a different thing." As a municipality, Heber offers higher densities and Richer is attempting to "misuse" annexation laws for personal gain. Jam's said, adding that Daniel residents in the hamlet south of Heber raise animals to make a living. "'Die people who move in are going to start complaining about the animals.". Jams said.
