Show NARFE salutes proud past Under the theme, "NARFE Salutes a Proud Past and Welcomes a Progressive Future," the Utah Federation of Chapters of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees recently met in Logan for the Federation's 31st annual an-nual convention. The 70th anniversary anniver-sary of the organization's national charter was also celebrated at this gathering. Trie convention was hosted by the Logan Chapter and included addresses ad-dresses by two state legislators and input from the association's national office. National Secretary, Nola Aguilar, delivered the keynote address and Region VII field vice president, Chris Torrey, participated par-ticipated in all of the convention activities. ac-tivities. Acting chapter president, Gordon Horsley, Lucille Chris-tensen Chris-tensen and Vernon Christensen represented rep-resented the BountifulSouth Davis Chapter as delegates and convention conven-tion participants. A special evening of music and dancing was enjoyed by the delegates dele-gates and convention visitors as guests of the Logan Senior Citizens Center. The music was provided by the Dave England Swing Band. Two Bountiful Chapter members were given special recognition at the annual awards banquet held at Utah State University Walnut Room. Gordon Horsley was awarded award-ed a citation for meritorious service for many volunteer hours at the Hill Air Force Base Retirement Service Center. Immediate past president, Carrol Howell, was recognized by a citation for meritorious service to his fellow members in the office of chapter president for more than five years. The BountifulSouth Davis Chapter of NARFE meets at the Golden Years Center on the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. All retirees, their spouses or survivors sur-vivors are invited, A report of convention con-vention activities will be made at the June 1 1 meeting. |
