Show Local teen dies in motorcycle crash By JAMS STUART Staff Writer BOUNTIFUL Todd William Burns was fatally injured during a motorcycle accident on Interstate 80 near 4000 West in Salt Lake City, Friday. The 18-year-old Bountiful youth was pronounced dead on arrival at the LDS Hospital after being transported from the scene by medical helicopter. The young man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to a Utah Highway Patrol spokesperson. The accident was apparently caused when the vehicle, traveling east on 1-80, at approximately 95 to 100 mph, failed to negotiate a turn. According to the spokesperson, the motorcycle left the road, went into the median, and returned to the road. As it did, the rear tire flipped out. Burns was a previous manager for the Bountiful Fitness Center. He graduated from Bountiful High School in 1990 and had been accepted ac-cepted to the school of Pharmacy at the University of Utah. Officers are investigating the possibility of alcohol being involved in-volved in the accident. |
