Show Informer receives a prison sentence By MARK EDD1NGTON Staff Writer FARMINGTON A 29-year-old police informant who twice attempted at-tempted to strangle his girlfriend and allegedly assaulted a police officer will spend up to five years in the Utah State Prison. Henry Paul Neidig, 1235 S. 150 West of Clearfield, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced sen-tenced by Second District Court Judge Rodney S. Page and ordered to pay for the damage he did to a holding cell at the Clearfield Police Department. Neidig was also charged with damaging a jail, a third degree felony, and assaulting a police officer, offi-cer, a class A misdemeanor. But these charges were dismissed. The altercation took place between be-tween Neidig and his girlfriend on April 16, according to a statement by the victim. Neidig and the victim started and the defendant grabbed SEE INFORMER ON A-3 INFORMER CONTINUED FROM A-2 her around the neck, strangling her until she passed out. When she came to and tried to leave the house, Neidig strangled her again once more, causing her to black out again. Officers summoned to the scene found Neidig hiding under a truck. While attempting to make an arrest, Neidig is alleged to have kicked and hit a Clearfield Police Officer. Neidig was placed in a holding cell at the police department, where he is reported to have damaged a toilet and other jail property. |
