Show Spring Cats By KIM WOODBURY Ah, the rustle of spring-a-ding-ding! It's been a long, cold winter, but the light of March is finally upon us. Although your parents will tell you that it's not warm enough to wear shorts yet, don't listen. Cat S ChafP In the spring, a teen-ager's fancy turns to.. .sports! Tryouts for the Wildcat soccer, baseball, tennis and track teams started last week and again testified to the plethora of talent tal-ent found here at Woods Cross High. Good luck to everyone trying out! We are looking forward to terrific ter-rific seasons in all of these exciting sports! Congratulations again to our stupendous basketball men. Although Al-though they fell to Sky View, they more than made up for it by beating Bountiful for the third time this year. (Count it-three times!!) They then earned fifth place in the state by crushing Murray 80-61. Thanks to everyone for a truly awesome season! WX not only abounds in athletic prowess, but in artistic excellence as well. Our melodious Encore Choir will be performing John Rutter's "Requiem" at Symphony Hall on Friday, March 8. Many other choirs from throughout the state will be joining them in singing some mighty fine music. The "Requiem" is not Barry Manilow of course, but it's still some pretty intense stuff. Tickets are $5, $10 and $15 and are available at Smith-Tix and the Salt Palace. Don't miss this cultural extravaganza! Congratulations to the Wildcat of the Week, Martine Lavallee. Mar-tine Mar-tine is a foreign exchange student from Quebec, Canada and her favorite thing about WX is the spirit. She likes Utah because of the friendly people and the great skiing. Martine likes to play volleyball and watch hockey games. We're really lucky to have Martine at our school this year! Break out the shorts and sunscreen and have a springing week! |
