Show Joe versus the article By JOE Once upon a time, Joe had to get an article in to the Davis County Clipper. The article was about his beloved Bountiful High School The article would be printed on May 2. "Oh no!" said Joe in a cry of dispair, "I have only six articles left to write, and I want to make them very fun and creative." "Oh pooh," said pretty Bobby Sue, "If I were you, I wouldn't be blue, I'd write about the choirs and how they did on their tour in California." So Joe sat down and thought and thought and thought, "O.K. that's what I'll do," and he began to write: The B.H.S. Choir department went on "tour" to the Six Flags Magic Mountain Choir Festival from April 19-24. They did very well, The A'Cappella choir received receiv-ed a "Superior" rating. Xela, a women's ensemble, also received a "Superior" rating and was first runner-up for the "Best in Class" award. Phenix, a male ensemble, received an "Excellent" rating; and Chamber Choir, a mixed ensemble, received a "Superior" and second runner-up for the "Best in Class" competition. Congratulations to the BHS Choir department "Now what else may I do?" Joe lamented. "I just don't have a clue," Joe lamented again. "Don't be silly," said pretty Bobby Sue, "You know I hate to see you pout Put on your smiley face and get your calendar out ' The brilliant idea, like lightbulbs, flashed in Joe's mind, so he made a . mad rush to see if he could find his calendar. And oh! in that twinkling moment one night, Joe found his calendar right in plain sight. "Here's what I have for all of you today, the events of the week are right here in black and gray." So Joe wrote: Final class officer elections were April 25. The new officers elected really know how to jive. For the senior class in 90-91, the following people will have fun, as senior class officers: Jake "Tbe Snake" Mur-dock, Mur-dock, and "Tall" Amy Stout, "Funny" Jared Christensen, and for a ' 'Hall' ' of a year, Russell HalL For the junior class in the following follow-ing year, these JCO's will be of good cheer Lance Palmer, Camille Dupaix, Kay Merrell and Amy Westergard. And Joe continued to write: April 28, oh, what a date, State Solo and Ensemble for the choirs and singers at BHS. May 2, you won't be blue, because there is Region Track at Woods Cross and Orchestra competition at Granite. May 3, whoop-dee-dee. Region Track continues at Woods Cross. Senior Prom and Concert Band at State are what will happen on the date, of May the 5, ain't that great? And Joe, desperately struggling to make sense in his article and keep his reader's attention, continued con-tinued to write: On May 7 to 18, the A.P. tests will measure how keen, the minds of the A.P. students are. And on May 9, it will be fine, to see a choir competition at Murray. Joe, in his ridiculous late-night (or is it early morning now?) antics, continued to write on and on and... "Just Kidding," kidded Joe, "and Good Night!" |
