Show He wants Gams' old Senate seat National predicament worries Ward Centerville Junior High School cafeteria. Visitors are welcome. By DR. DOLORES HANSEN Brent Ward, Republican candidate can-didate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Jake Gam, campaigned cam-paigned recently with members of the CenterviUe-Farmington Rotary Club. Formerly the U.S. Attorney for Utah, Ward is most concerned with the overwhelming urgency of our national predicament. Ward likens this crisis to being at the edge of a cliff. The immense federal deficit may ruin the country unless a major overhaul of the system is undertaken and America again has a working legislature. He said we are now spending $1.78 for every $ 1 generated from taxes; Ward likened this to a baby with a huge appetite and no responsibility. Ward believes there will be a turnover of possibly 150 seats in the national legislature because of voter unrest. Because of this, he predicts the possibility for dramatic policy changes. Congress needs to live frugally, and we need people who will assault problems ferociously, he said. His record as U.S. Attorney, of offensives against sex offenders, white collar crime, fraud schemes, pornography and drugs in schools, qualifies him to help bring about changes in the Senate, he said. Ward wants to be a senator for about 12 years; by that time, he said, the budget could be balanced. He said he wants to change the Senate more than join it, and believes the American public can bring about needed changes through their votes. A better life for the generations ge-nerations that follow is his goal. The CenterviUe-Farmington Rotary meets each Thursday morning morn-ing ,t 6:50 a.m. for breakfast at the K J BRENT WARD |
