Show Extension Service sets open house celebration of 75th 4-H anniversary FARMINGTON -- The Smith-Lever Smith-Lever Act, which established the -nation-wide Cooperative Extension - - Service, is 75 years old. In com-" memoration of this anniversary, the Davis County Extension service offices of-fices are hosting an open house on . Monday, May 8 from 2-4 p.m. Activities are planned for the . Davis County office at 125 S. Main,' Farmington and for the Horticulture Farm Office, 1817 N. Main Street, . i - Farmington. , " : Refreshments will be served at both locations. , Youth projects will be highlighted at the Davis County Of- fice. There will be 4-H youth pro grams displayed including model rocket launching and baby chicks hatching. Free 4-H balloons will be given away. Also at the County Office Of-fice there will be displays on dietary guidelines, sugar and salt in the diet and on water quality. , . The Horticulture Farm will host a tree planting demonstration at 3 4 p.m. and a guided tour of the USUj ., Botanical Gardens at 3 p.m. There -will be a continuous five-minute -slide presentation on the history and development of the Botanical , Gardens. People are invited to bring questions and samples ' of their ( i garden problems. These will be discussed and hopefully solved. |
