Show Lakeview Hospital offers parenting class Lakeview Hospital . sponsors a . parenting class which is a community commun-ity service. It is taught about three times a year. Each series is taught in a two hour evening class for five, consecutive weeks. The classes are taught from 7-9 pjn. in the classroom class-room at Lakeview Hospital. The . cost is $5 per person and preregis- (ration is necessary as the number of participants is limited." ' ' Several years ago Lakeview Hospital sent two of their registered nurses, Joan D. Quinn and Diane Gibbs to Nashville, Tennessee to at-tend at-tend a parenting seminar. These two RN's have been teaching the parenting parent-ing classes for the hospital for the past three years.' - ; ; - This parenting class describes some of the principles a parent heeds to do to effectively raise a child to be a happy, healthy, pro-ductive pro-ductive person. No one knows everything about parenting. In fact, everything about parenting probably isn't known. There are areas of unproven speculation, specu-lation, authoritative . disagreement and differing values. But we do know mat in the first five years of life the foundation is laid for both mental and psychological growth. What parents do or don't do during these crucial years will have a large effect on the future successes of the child. . -.'' , The good news is that there are some basic, foundational principles of parenting that can help every parent be successful.
