Show Forum tackles slim turnout with speakers sessions are held with each speaker after the Forums and everyone is invited to participate. The annual Law Forum at the University is getting off to a slow start as far as student participation is concerned, according to Steve Hutchinson, committee member of the Forum. The Forum, started around ten years ago, is a series of lectures open to the public and to the students. "So far this year there have been five lectures with only a minimal amount of student attendance'.' Law Forum itself is financed through ASUU, and Student Bar Association treasury funds. Right now work is being done to seek a matching grant from the Law Student Division and no honorariums are paid. A committee composed of Stephen Hutchinson, Douglas Nelson, Rick Smith and Steve Plichta sent out 170 invitations to various speakers. The following speakers are planned for later dates: Fred Brosselman-Chicago Land Use Expert; Paul Bator-Habeas Corpus Expert; Joe Sorrentino-former Sorrentino-former hoodlum who straightened his way out to becoming Harvard valed ictorian; Major General George S. Prugh; Melvin Belli; and Michael Pertschuk. One of the best Forums will be given by Dean Thurman on "Humor in Law" which is a very popular humorous speech that the dead has been giving for years. These various Law Forums held throughout the year are open to the public and to the students at the .. University.. Question and answer |
