Show o Garth West Participate In Large Seal Project Beppu, Japan Pfc. David Garth West, son of Mr. and Mrs. . George L. West, 92 Main Street, Bingham Canyon, is scheduled to fly in mid-July from Japan to For Bragg, N. C, with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat team as part of Operation Gyro-! Gyro-! ' scope, the Army's new unit ro tation plan. Giant C-124 Globemasters are being used in the 12,000 mile project pro-ject in which the 187th is being replaced in the Far East by the 508th ARCT. The operation is the first large scale air transfer of units in the history of the Army. West, a gunner in the 187th, entered the Army in April 1953. He completed basic training at Fort Campbell, Ky. According to "word received this week by his parents, Garth has arrived at Ft. Bragg after serving 20 months in Japan. He is expected home on a leave in the latter part of August. |
