Show Dedication officially takes place It's 107,381 square feet, 14 stories high and . what might be called the campus superstructure. super-structure. The $3-million Social and Behavioral Science Building was officially dedicated Friday morning in the new building. Jerry R. Anderson, academic vice president, and one of the speakers at the ceremony said the dedication was a sad and happy day because it looks like the last new building on campus for some time, yet he said it represents growth of the University and departments within the structure. Other speakers were Kenneth B. Little, executive officer of the American Psychological Association; William J. Coode, president of the American Sociological Association; Jon Eisenson, president of the American Speech and Hearing Foundation; and William F. Pro-kasy,dean Pro-kasy,dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Be-havioral Science. Dr. Goode made these comments: "The old values of speed, growth, size and destruction are crumbling in the nation. Better values will replace them, but the social sciences won't be in a position to help make these decisions for a decade or two." Dr. Coode added a reference to C. North-cote North-cote Parkinson's laws which says all creative activity takes place in the dingy, old, cramped buildings. And when the new buildings arrive creativity ends. You can offset this, he said, by filling the new building with much activity and commitment com-mitment to creative action. |
