Show from oversimplified ways of looking at problems. Perhaps such an editorial is not worth writing, but 1 sup worth considering fect Clarence tt'frsacl .MslOH Cross to bear Editor: 1, too, have had a cross to bear. For five years I have read in "letters," with growing tedium that sours the stomach almost as much as the disposition, those inane, provincial, ridiculously childish controversies over religion. These thesaurus-toting crackpots, teeth bared and shivering with indignation, generally couch their points in a meandering and immature verbiage that outranks even the Chrony's literary fumblings. Where else is the war between good and evil so joyfully healthy, so pertinent but in the pages of our University rag, side by side with tire ads and existential dread a la Nutting, notices for the latest "devotional" together with an X-rated X-rated movie's promise of carna! kicks I am tired of these fanatics, pre and contra. With the possible exception of the amusing pen chant they have for spelling He His and Him in capitals, they are so dreadully humorless. I'm tired of their admonishments, their stillborn, abstract terminology and their fuzzy logic. Must the Chrony continue to be the mouthpiece mouth-piece for their spiritual pretense (one is tempted to say arrogance but their tirades are too trivial to be that assuming), must it feel obligated to publish every letter that aspires to Jeremiah with the prose of soap operas? Christine C. Bock Speak easy Editor: I think it is important to facilitate communication between 1 students, interested groups, and all areas of the administration that are concerned with the I cutbacks in health services, mental health services, etc. ' Dr. Frobes said Wednesday that - her action to call for a meeting - with the public stemmed from '. Tuesday's editorial on mental health services. If your editorials influence the administration, perhaps a complementary editorial about the holding of such meetings might be able to influence better communication. The reason I am concerned about this, was that there was a certain "breakdown in communication" at the meeting, and the administration ad-ministration may not feel it is rewarding, to their side, to hold more meetings. Should you write such an editorial, you might consider adding a humorous tone to it which could reduce some of the tension of the meeting. You might even take up your Archie Bunker theme once more to show that insight and articulation can flow Letters to the editor must be submitted bv SI" "V "e,0re """"'""on d,,?. unerl 5 Srb ?,e typed-Due ,o rc;:errs.pes"?ho:rbebii9r;;i,': me Chronicle reserves tho rink . s'jen- |
