Can you explain the policy which gives the best parking to the staff (in such excess that rows are usually empty) and the distant leftovers to the students? It seems the staff ought to be treated the same as employees of other businesses required to leave the best parking places for customer use. Students are your customers where would you be without them? If you primary function is education, why don't you give students the best parking places? John S. Applegarth Dry well Editor: It appears as though Nutting has run out of things to write for the Chronicle. His article ar-ticle yesterday on marriage was neigher true nor amusing, and besides, I hear it's poor journalism to write on a subject about which the author KNOWS NOTHING. Anyone who takes that attitude at-titude about marriage would inevitably have an unhappy one. Susan C. McOmber Do it again Editor: On behalf of the Mendoza Boys' Choir that sang during the half time of the U of U vs. BYU freshman game, I want to thank you for the excellent reception that they received. This group was on a tour of North and South America and later to Japan and I'm sure have had many different dif-ferent types of concerts but I'm sure that they will never forget the way they were received here in the Special Events Center. I myself, a student, was also very favorably impressed with the fine attention and the standing ovation that you gave this group. Maybe this time the University will be remembered for something other than impoliteness and crucleness that it has been known for before. I'm very proud of that group of people that set a fine example to these kids. Knowing how basketball games usually are, I was afraid of what was going to happen when these kids went on the floor. But my fear was soon changed into pride when I saw that the student-body does know how to act and behave, even at basketball games. My congratulations once again and I hope that maybe those that were there for the freshman game might be able to remember it and do it again. Bruce Cutler hamstrung by the failure of the College Council to meet and appropriate money for our use. We therefore serve notice that, because of the Chemistry SAC's urgent need for money to carry out our class evaluation program, unless a meeting of the complete College Council can be convened in the next week, our representatives to the Council will meet, assume the authority of the whole Council, and take appropriate action. Chemistry SAC Imagine! Editor: In reply to Richard and Patti Merrill's Jan. 18th letter which says "we do not believe there is a conflict between true science and true religion." I would like to suggest that it is difficult to decide what is "true" in either science or religion, especially from their letter. From the standpoint of "truth" it would seem that the scientific method at least shows you when your hypothesis is incorrect, which is more than you can say for faith. However, my real purpose in writing this letter is to suggest that the best way to see such an issue is through the freedom of creative imagination, and this involves the development of the personality in such a way that it grows tired of ever seeing anything one way, except perhaps subconsciously. sub-consciously. With this method it becomes quite easy to see all kinds of conflicts between "true" religion and "true-science; "true-science; one has only to think of Galileo recantmg, or Bruno being burned at the stake, or the Scopes trial, or the Pope saying no to the pill, to imagine some tension must exist between attitudes labeled "science" or "religion." Also, the science of psychology shows religion to be a more universal Phenomenon than Jesus would ever stand he hei i Policy orr Letters Z xi n rop ay. There have been, and continue to be abuses of this system.
