Despite Emperor Selassie's schedule, Prof. Gittins was granted grant-ed two 40-minute sittings cne Sunday morning in October at his summer palace in Debrezeit, 300 kilometers from Addis Abada. Prof. Gittins was allowed to spend some additional time at the Emperor's Em-peror's "working palace," Menelik, in Addis Abada to wort on the throne and the Emperor's uniform (a marshall's unita covered with medals and gold braid). A portrait of Ethiopia Emperor Haile Selassie I, drawn by University Univer-sity professor, Alvin L. Gittins, will be unveiled in ceremonies Tuesday in the Marriott Library. The protrait is a symbol of the professional and personal relationship relation-ship which has developed between Utah officials and personnel at Haile Selassie I University since 1962, when the University was contracted by the I .S. Agency for International Dev lopment to develop de-velop a teacher training program for the institution in Addis Abada. Prior to the unveiling in the Middle East library, some 50 local faculty members who have taught at Haile Selassie will join University Univer-sity officials at a luncheon in the Marriott Library Auditorium. Dr. Harold W. Bentley, dean emeritus of the Division of Continuing Education, will be the speaker.
