The cool thing is that they re heavy without being loud. You know what I mean by loud: You can't hear anything but the music for the next three days. Last weekend they had two groups playing down there. One that deserves some mention is call "My Friends." The group consits of a guitar, a bass and drums. The guitarist, Kenny Rardin, really BY FRANK RUNNER Chronicle Staff Things are changing fast down at Mother Earth, 816 So. State. Icuras is no longer Hie house band. Drummer Kevin Turnbow revealed re-vealed that although the "other two guys had been together for a long time, he (Kevin) had just joined the group a few weeks ago. These guys are tight for being so new to each other. When asked if they were getting paid enough for their work, Kevin replied in the negative. But then, who gets what their work is worth in this area? Anyhow, I have the feeling that these guys will be back at Mother Earth in the near future. Meanwhile, a group called "White Water" is going to be playing there this weekend. They're a five-piece band: guitar, bass, drums, organ and mixed percussion. Three of the guys sing. They play all kinds of music, some originals. Mother Earth is located around the back of the building under the green light (somebody broke the orange bulb!) at the 816 So. State address. |
