Show Medical vice president named Mayo Foundation sponsor Dr. Castleton conducted a pri vate general surgery practice ii Salt Lake City from 1933 to 196! He joined the University facult in 1942 and served as dean of tfc College of Medicine from 1962-6' He was appointed vice-presider for medical affairs in Januarv 1969. The Mayo Foundation, a charitable, chari-table, non-profit organization for the advancement of medical education edu-cation and research, has selected Dr. Kenneth B. Castleton, vice-president vice-president for medical affairs at the University, as one of 30 national na-tional alumni sponsors for the long-range development program of the Foundation. The Foundation, an arm of the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Minnesota, conducts con-ducts the nation's largest residency resi-dency program and has a broad medical research program. As an alumni sponsor, Dr. Castleton will make the Mayo Foundation's goals and programs known locally and help raise funds for research, health care and a new medical school. A Utah native and professor of surgery at the University, Dr. Castleton has centered his research re-search on gastrointestinal surgery and has published over 40 professional pro-fessional papers. He is a member of the American Medical Associa. tion, the American Board of Surgery Sur-gery and the American College of Surgeons. He has been president of the Utah State Medical Association, Asso-ciation, the Salt Lake County Med. ical Society, the Salt Lake Surgical Surgi-cal Society and the Medical Board of the Holy Cross Hospital. |
