Show 0SE1 Auditorium in need of better movie equipment "The Graduate" was shown to 2000 Friday, Saturday and Sun- j day. 500 people were turned away ' because of lack of seating space. Stricter emphasis is being put. on the requirement of ID cards in order to see the shows because j of the great number of people t who came. i The Union Program Council will petition administration officials offi-cials today in an effort to obtain better facilities for showing Union Un-ion movies in Orson Spencer Hall. "The Graduate", shown last weekend sold out at every showing show-ing and many people were turned away. The Program Council had three alternatives in accommodating accommodat-ing the large crowd. They could either show the film in the Little Theatre with the cinemascopic screen and stereo sound system and only seat 136 people a showing, show-ing, show it at OSH without the cinemascopic screen and lenses which would have greatly distorted dis-torted the whole show and seat 400 people, or they could show it in OSH and construct their own screen. Those who came to s e e 'The Graduate" found that Program Council chose to do the latter. Butcher paper was taped across blackboards sitting on top of banquet ban-quet tables on the stage of OSH. Jim Davis, chairman of the Program Council, said he would petition for a better screen, sound system and 35 mm projectors for OSH. He said the new projectors will cut costs for showing films and will give the University the professional theater it needs. |
