Show v 7 n Singer and guitar stylist Jose Feliciano will perform in the Salt Palace Saturday night along with electrified folk group the Original Caste. Student film festival set for OS II auditorium A dozen movies ranging from documentaries to animated cartoons, car-toons, along with a light show, will be presented in a student film festival Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Sat-urday in Orson Spencer Hail auditorium audi-torium at 8:30 p.m. All the films were produced by the members of the University film-making class taught by Donald MacDonald. Some of the movies are elaborate productions on 16mm film with sound tracks, others are on 8mm film with sound accompaniment provided by tape recordings. Besides the difference in types of film used, there is a tremendous tre-mendous variety in the subject matter and techniques used in the motion pictures. Some of the films tell specific stories, others attempt to capture reality in a documentary and some of them are animated. Along with the films, the program pro-gram will contain a light show designed de-signed by Richard Taylor, the poster advertising the festival was also designed by Taylor. This part-j part-j icular light show is designed specifically spe-cifically for visual display and is ' unlike any of the light shows done for rock concerts. There will be a light display at the beginning and at the end of the program and a "center piece" light show in the middle of the film festival. Some of the films that will be included in the hour and a half festival will be "The Life Stamp," "The Latter Day" and "Oct. 15." "The Life Stamp" is a professional pro-fessional animated film done by Linda Bates. Besides having a place in the student film festival, "The Life Stamp" will serve as Linda's masters thesis in graphics. This is the first time a University student has been allowed to produce pro-duce a film as a masters thesis. "The Latter Day" is a documentary doc-umentary film produced by Donald MacDonald, the teacher of the film making-class. It explores the life of a fundamentalist Mormon Bishop, and how his religion re-ligion influences his views of the world. "Oct. 15" is a semi-documentary semi-documentary on the October 15th Vietnam Moratorium produced by Mike Cassidy. It isn't a documentary documen-tary in thetrue sense, since there is no narration. The film shows the Moratorium objectively with the sounds and comments recorded live except for the music "Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag" and "For What It's Worth,"-added to the sound track to help portray the mood of that day. Admission charge for the festival festi-val will be only $ 1 .25 . i |
