Show Redskin gymnastics squad awaits competition at CSU The compulsories for the U-around in the Western Athletic inference (WAC) Gymnastics lhampionships are scheduled to e held Thursday in Fort Collins, olorado. The team competition all begin Friday and Utah will go lto the meet with a six-man juad. Senior Mike Kimball, defending AC champion in the all-around id the horizontal bar, will lead animates Sergio Luna, Ken right, Mike Dennison, Bob Weir id Jack King into the battle. Imball, Luna and Wright are all itries in the all-around. In the first event, the floor :ercise, Wright is the brightest pe for the Utes. He has the eighth best average in the conference. The floor exercise will be Weir's only event. On the side horse, Kimball is the strongest of the Ute competitors, and on the still rings, Kimball and Luna should lead the squad. Kimball holds the third best average in the conference. King is Utah's best in the long horse event, with the fifth best average in the WAC. Kimball should out-perform all other Utes on the parallel bars and horizontal bar. He has the top average in the WAC on the parallel bars and is second in the high bar event. In the all-around competition, Kimball leads the conference and is favored to repeat as WAC champion. |
