Show 'Canterville Ghost' to appear at Pioneer Theatre I "The Canterville Ghost", dramatization of Oscar Wilde's story, is the next production at the Pioneer Memorial Theatre for Young People. An American family moves into Canterville Manor, a four hundred year old castle in England, and with the deed to the land, they also receive full title to the Lord of the Manor, Sir Simon Canterville, played by Wayne Wilson, a sprightly ghost only three hundred years old. Sir Simon is not so frightening as he is amusing and mischievous. He prefers to pinch the housekeeper (Mrs. Mary Nielson) when she is carrying the tea tray to rolling his head down the hall. He is afraid of mice. He knocks (I -) down pictures. He snitches cakes from the tea table. The Otis family, the Americans that move into his castle, are not the average castle owners. Mrs. Otis (played by Mrs. Use Perl) is the only one who has any fear of the ghost. Mr. Otis (Tom Chapman) is the brash American father of the 1890's who walks up to the ghost, shakes his hand, and asks him to stay as long as he likes. The twins, Mirium (Susan Warburton) and Marlyn (Margaret Sandberg), are the "wild Indians" who give the ghost a worse time than he gives them. They steal his chains to haunt the upper halls, impersonate him to steal cake from the kitchen, and then terrorize him with his own broad sword. Virginia (Angela Thomas) is the only member of the family that Sir Simon can tolerate. She is un afraid of him and truly wants to help him. Sir Simon, since he became a ghost (over 300 years) has not slept. Only a brave girl can show him the way to his final rest. "The Canterville Ghost", directed by Dr. Ralph Margetts, will be presented March 6-8. Thursday and Friday performances are at 4:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4:15 p.m. Tickets for children, students faculty, and staff are 75 cents.
