Show Berkeley strikers plan quiet week smashed several windows and a campus policeman was beaten with his own club by two strikers. Picketing was peaceful until about 3 p.m. when 300 demonstrators blocked the main campus entrance, then moved into the street, blocking traffic. Police stood by for about an hour, then swept the intersection of demonstrators. They were accompanied by the guardsmen, who shot tear gas into the crowd, leaving a heavy cloud of the gas in the area. Until rain and darkness ended the confrontation, the demonstrators, police and bystanders roamed the area.
