M WHEREAS University food service administrators found it necessary to raise food prices to compensate for an anticipated loss of $117,000 in the fiscal year 1968-69, and WHEREAS with the price increase food service will still realize a $51,000 loss, and WHEREAS we believe it should be possible for food Food Services Committee of Union Board has called for an accounting statement including income and expenses in each of the Union eating areas by Jan. 1. Such a statement is not now available since the necessary records have not been kept for a sufficient length of time. Coffee, J provided outside at half co! service to break even without relying on food price increases or food vending, and WHEREAS Union Board as well as Executive Council (of the Associated Students of the University of Utah) desire substantial proof as to whether or not a price increase is necessary, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: (1) At the beginning of winter quarter, no later than Jan. 15, the Food Service will present to Union Board an accounting of income and expenses for each Union food service area: Huddle, Crimson Commons, Panorama, Cafeteria and Catering; (2) That Union Board have the authority to approve all food service policy and prices before they go into effect; (3) At the beginning of winter quarter upon receiving the Food Service Report, the Union Board shall consult with an outside evaluation agency to determine the advisibility of immediately bringing in an outside evaluation agency. Must Wait Waiting until the end of the quarter is necessary in order for the figures to accurately reflect changes which University Business Manager Blain Bradfored has made in the Food Service operation, Ruhlander said.
