Show Ute Soccer Club downs USU in weekend action The Redskin soccer team, behind the scoring of Flemming Jensen, Ulrich Schwurack and Jack Schade, pulled out a last minute victory against Utah State University in Logan, Saturday, posting a 3 to 2 victory in its first contest. USU drew first blood in the opening quarter when an Aggie left wing put in a centered ball from six feet out. It was the Redskins' turn in the second period as center forward Jensen scored on a beautiful shot into the left corner 16 feet away. USU did all the scoring in the third quarter as a rebound of a free kick produced the only tally. Trailing by a goal with 20 minutes remaining, the Utes scored in the first minute of the period on a goal by left inside Schwurack. The Redskins then waited until the last minute to score the deciding point when left wing Schade headed a high center into the left corner of the goal. The Utes dominated most of the play, but USU played a tough game to keep the outcome undecided until the end. In a Junior Varsity contest at Sunnyside Park Friday, Weber State dominated the Redskins while taking the decision 5 to 0. The Wildcats scored once in the first quarter, twice in the second and twice in the fourth. Although five goals were scored, Ute goalie Ron Wise played an excellent game and should be playing varsity ball in the SDrinff said teammates |
