Show Redskins Capture Four; Commence Poke Series Dick Hardy's one-hitter h i g h-lighted h-lighted weekend baseball action for the University of Utah as the Utes swept four games from Mesa College Col-lege and College of Southern Utah. Hardy didn't allow a' hit until the seventh inning of Friday's seven inning game against Mesa. To top it off, he doubled and later scored the only run of the game in the sixth inning as the Utes defeated Mesa 1-0. Hardy's record is now 3-4 with a 2.49 earned run average. 11-Inning Game In the second game of the Mesa doubleheader the Redskins jumped off to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, inn-ing, but couldn't hold the lead. -Mesa held a 6-5 lead going into the last of the seventh, but the Utes, with their backs to the wall, scored a run to tie it up. In the 11th inning inn-ing George Theodore, who had three hits to break out of a long slump, knocked in the winning run in the 7-6 Utah victory. Utah used four pitchers in the long game. Mark DiGiosio, Dan Pnock, Alan Axtell and John Nord-quist Nord-quist all saw action before Nord-quist Nord-quist picked up the win. George Theodore and John Hunter had doubles and Jack Gehrke smashed : a triple to lead the Redskins' 12-hit attack. Easy Wins Utah easily swept a doubleheader from College of Southern Utah Saturday Sat-urday at Derks Field, winning the first game 6-0 and the nightcap 7-2. John Landures hurled a two-hit shutout and banged out a triple to aid his own cause. Landures now sports a 3-1 record with a 1.50 ERA. In the second game Utah broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run outburst in the fourth inning and coasted from there. John Nordqust started and was releived by Brent Walker in the fourth. Alan Axtell came in in the fifth and finished up. Walken was the winning pitcher as he evened his record at 1-1. George Theodore, Tom Kilgore and Dave Edmonds hit doubles and Jack Gehrke hit another triple to pace the Utes. Wyoming Today The weekend action was just a warmup for a three-game WAC series with Wyoming. Utah will meet the Cowboys in a single game at 2 p.m. today. The series will conclude with a doubleheader Tuesday Tues-day at 1 p.m. All games will be at Derks Field. Acconding to Coach Pres Summerhays. "The pitchers have come along pretty good lately and we have a good defensive ball club. But we haven't been getting the clutch hitting and we must improve im-prove in that when we face Wyoming Wyom-ing and BYU." Mark DiGiosio or Dick Hardy will start today. Wyoming lost all three games of a tough series with BYU last weekend week-end and neither the Utes or Cowboys Cow-boys can afford another conference loss if they hope to keep their title chances alive.
