Show Concert Band To Perform Sunday The University Concert Band will perform Sunday, at 3 p.m. in the Music Hall. The concert will be "largely contemporary." All except ex-cept two of the pieces have been written since 1960. Conducted by Dr. Forrest D. Stoll with Loel T. Hepworth as associate as-sociate conductor the band will feature fea-ture the "Symphony for Band" by Robert Washburn. Washburn was the recipient of a Ford Foundation Young Composer's Grant in 1959. The symphony, according to Dr. Stoll, is "very exciting." Last night the band played at the Western Division Convention of the College Band Directors National Na-tional Association. "Since bands perform at this convention by invitation." in-vitation." said nr - s a great deal of prestige to the band's reputation." Dr. Stoll said Thursday, "Some of the best bands and conductors in the western states will be in attendance at-tendance at the convention, so we will hardly ever find a more critical crit-ical audience;" |
