Show Bulletin The Department of Health, Education, Edu-cation, and Welfare in Washington, D.C. announced to the University Monday the University would by March 5 receive deed to 7.15 acres of Ft. Douglas land valued at approximately ap-proximately $225,000. The area is located west of the Annex along Hempstead Road Ralph L. Mecham, vice president for Economic and Community Development, De-velopment, told the Chronicle, "I am a little surprised at the announcement, an-nouncement, because we are still having difficulties with the escrow arrangements.. Mecham explained the University has to replace building No. 506, a maintenance garage used by the Army, "Because the Army has sole judgement over qualifications for the building, we want to make sure the Army agrees with our qualifications qualifi-cations before we go ahead and build it or we could be out $150,000." The acquirement of the new land will mean the University will own a total of 9.93 acres of Ft. Douglas land. |
