Show Spectacle To Feature Newest Snow Ideas The first snow flakes are falling on the slopes, but skiers are heading head-ing for the University. "Snow Big Deal" comes the University Uni-versity Dec. 1 from 12-3 p.m. in the Union center ballroom. Designed De-signed to acquaint skiers with the newest ideas from the snow scene, the spectacle offers a variety of events for novice and expert. Featured on the program will be a ski swap, fashion shows, ski movies, technique demonstrations and refreshments. "Those students who signed up for the beginning and intermediate skiing classes and who don't know much about skiing, equipment and facilities and are interested in finding out before the first day on the hill should attend," said Steve Newton, Snow Big Deal chairman. Newton said skiers have a "good" opportunity to buy used equipment. Companies will have their used skis on display so students stu-dents may price them with local businesses. Outside on the Union lawn, Alf Engen and his ski school will demonstrate dem-onstrate ski techniques on the ski deck. The National Ski Patrol will run booths selling skier ID's. For the fee of one dollar, any skier can receive re-ceive a card containing his picture, serial number of his skies, make and height of skis. The ID is used to help locate lost or stolen skis. |
