Show University Debaters To Host Cambridge Team By CATHY BALDWIN Chronicle Staff Writer University debate team will host two debaters from Cambridge, England Eng-land Oct. 31 in Orson Spencer Hall auditorium. A few tickets are still available for the debate. Andrew W. Rose and Michael Both Coyne and White have debated de-bated for the University in the past. Coyne's major is public address. White is a radio-TV major. Tickets may be purchased at the Union information desk, the speech department or at the door. Adult admission is $1.25, college students $1.00 and high school students 75 cents. both teaching assistants pursuing doctoral studies in the Dept. of Speech. Debaters Well-Trained Dr. Halbert S. Greaves, professor and chairman of the speech department, depart-ment, said the Cambridge debaters are "extremely well-trained." He added, "because the British debate system is not characterized by the fierce competition of U.S. intercollegiate inter-collegiate debate, British debaters are usually extremely entertaining. Their direct appeal to the audience should make the debate a very interesting in-teresting one." The debate will not be judged, but the audience will fill out shift-of-opinion cards before and after the debate to indicate which team was more successful, said Poan E. Orr, instructor in speech and director direc-tor of debate. Cross-Examination Debate Miss Orr said the debate will be cross-examination style. After each team presents its case the opposing oppos-ing team will ask questions. The Cambridge debaters are on a three month tour of U.S. colleges and universities. Rose is studying for his B.A. degree in economics and law at Trinity College, Cambridge. Cam-bridge. He was president of the Cambridge 'Debating Society in 1966. tli 'idioL Michael Horowitz . . .
