Show Other Classroom Much of the learning associated with a University experience experi-ence doesn't take place in a classroom. It's easy to get bogged down in the mechanics of education without really allowing the intellect to be stimulated, and as the quarter wears on, this tendency becomes more pronounced. One of the great opportunities offered by a university education edu-cation is not only that of studying a subject in depth, but that of rubbing shoulders with men of academic ability from a wide range of fields. One of the programs intended to facilitate this horizon-broadening horizon-broadening is the Thursday Lecture series. These programs are held every Thursday at noon in the Spencer Hall auditorium, and we feel that this Fall's topics are worth bringing to everyone's every-one's attention. Today at noon Dr. Henry Eyring will be discussing dis-cussing the sensitivity and reliability of the senses. In coming weeks, Dr. Mostofi will discuss the Middle East crisis; Dr. Kolif will speak on recent developments in kidney transplantation; transplanta-tion; and Dr. Brunvand will talk about folklore in the Land of Zion. Yes, Virginia, there really are more important things in the world than pot, and if you aren't in class today at noon, get your intellect tickled at Spencer Hall. In an age of inflation, hidden costs, and budget cuts, the Thursday Lectures are still free. |
