Show Student Plans Trip Around The World By SYLVIA KRONSTADT Chronicle Staff Writer Dave Jackson, a 22-year-old adventurer, ad-venturer, is looking for two 18 to 26-year-old companions to drive around the world with him in a Volkswagen bus. Plans include buying the bus in Munich then heading up through Moscow, Leningrad into Scandinavia, Scan-dinavia, Greece, Turkey, the Middle Mid-dle East, Africa, India, the Far East, such cities as Paris, Cairo, Bombay, and Manila and then down to South America; "just anyplace we feel like seeing!" Dave remarks. "I don't have any big, formal 'purpose' for the trip," Jackson comments. "I just love to travel. I enjoy experiencing various cultures, cul-tures, delving into archaeology, learning the languages, and getting a general education in people." Jackson enjoys surfing, skiing, and scuba diving, and plans to "do" as well as "see" on his venture. Jackson, who at present man ages the Chateau Apres, in Park City, drove through South America four years ago "I've been planning plan-ning this trip ever since," he says. He has been busy drawing up plans, and has solved the basic problems of the complex trip. Jackson estimates esti-mates that the expenses will total about $3,000 per person, for a 2-year 2-year adventure. "We'll really be roughing it," he laughs. "We'll even be sleeping and eating in the bus." Jackson feels that this method of travel is superior to a plush guided tour. "We'll be seeing so much more of the world," he remarks, re-marks, "Little places and unusual cultures that Americans never see. We can stop where we wish for as long as we wish. There'll be no pressure just enjoyment." Jackson also plans to take movies of areas of interest, and will keep a dairy, which he hopes later to use as the basis for a book. Anyone interested is encouraged to contact Dave Jackson at Park City, 649-9372. |
