Show Greeks Add Phi Sigma Iota To Campus Community A chapter of Phi Sigma Iota, romance language honor society, has been established on the University Uni-versity of Utah campus. "Only properly accredited colleges col-leges and universities with high-standing high-standing departments of languages are eligible to establish chapters," according to Dr. Andree M. L. Barnett, associate professor of languages. lan-guages. Dr. Barnett said the society will promote understanding of all cultures cul-tures in which romance languages (Spanish, French, Italian, Rumanian and Portugese) are spoken. The new members were installed into the Sigma RHo chapter on May 14 by Dr. Daniel L. Delakas, executive secretary of Phi Sigma Iota, from Ripon College, Ripon, Wisconsin. Students were selected on the basis of faculty recommendations recommen-dations and academic achievement. All members must have at least a 3.2 over-all grade point average and a 3.4 GPA in romance languages. To be eligible for membership students stu-dents must be in their third year of French or Spanish or their second sec-ond year of Italian. The new members are: Kenneth E. Calder, Marguerite Cummins, Glen R. Haslam, Darrell Reid Hilton, Hil-ton, Drent Richar Jacob, Dereck C. Kaufman, Wayne Kenneth Massey, John L. Minotti, Steven Howard Pond, Florence Elaine Randall, Ran-dall, Carol Rimensberger, Steve P. Howard, John Reyna Tapia, Fergus Rumel Wolley and Diana Wells Wormuth. |
