Show Editorials Too Little Now Too Much In an attempt to correct the deplorable de-plorable short election schedule that was used last year, this year's Election Committee seems to have over-shot their mark. They have gone from one extreme, campaigning for two weeks as it was last year, to the other, campaigning cam-paigning for two months. Although this is not a disaster, it can have its drawbacks. In the first place, many of the organizations, especially es-pecially those that hold regular business busi-ness meetings, were interuptcd to listen to a foreshadowing of what is to happen hap-pen in mid-April. Its rather like viewing view-ing a preview for a movie that will be shown in the following year. Secondly, many of the election is sues that will be used in this early campaigning cam-paigning will probably not remain issues through-out the campaign schedule. sched-ule. And thirdly, most of the candidates, candi-dates, along with the general student-body, student-body, are not at the point of enthusiasm enthusi-asm that should exist in campaigning. The Elections Committee can be complimented on their attempt to organize or-ganize an election that is not based on popularity, as so many in the past have been; however, there is no reason why they could not have scheduled campaigning cam-paigning to begin around the start of Spring quarter. Say, after Challenge Week. |
