Show IBtforiam Chosen IFor Iracotofci Mh Toynbee, born in London in 1889, was educated at Winchester and Balliol College, Oxford, and received what he has called "an old-fashioned education in Greek and Latin classics." He is now Professor Emeritus of International History at the University Uni-versity of London. Has Written Many Books Toynbee's first book, "Nationality "Nation-ality and the War", was published pub-lished in 1915, followed by "The New Europe." Ten years later he wrote a sequal of afterthoughts, after-thoughts, "The World After the Peace Conference." Among his more recent works published in the 1950's are "Christianity Among the Religions Reli-gions of the World"; "East to West: A Journey Round the World"; and "Hellenism." Two years ago Toynbee wrote "Between "Be-tween Niger and Nile" and "Hannibal's Legacy." Toynbee's predecessors have included W. Averell Harriman, present U. S: ambassador at large spoke at the 1966 summer Commencement and Lady Bird Johnson delivered the August 1964 address. In 1918 he joined the Political Intelligence Department of the Foreign Office. He was a member mem-ber of the Middle Eastern Section Sec-tion of the British Delegation to the Peace Conference in Paris after World War I. Toynbee was Koraes Professor of Byzantine and Modern Greek Language, Literature and History His-tory at London University from 1919 to 1924.'
