Show LETTERS TO THE)' EDITOR I Dear Editor, Concerning the article by Mr. Baker: Mr. Baker (U.N. analysis) seems to have the tone of a stereotyped extremist. He speaks of the U.N. as an individual, which, in fact it is not. The United Nations is composed com-posed of Nation States, each with its own government and foreign policy. I would think that the most moderately intelligent people could see that complete consensus would seldom be reached on any subject. The U.N. is capable of making mistakes mis-takes just like any other organization; organiza-tion; however, there is never just one reason for making a mistake. I feel it unfortunate that Mr. Baker failed to mention the attributes at-tributes of the United Nations, We all know the U.N. isn't as bad as old Daniel Smoot would like us to believe. Scott R. Robertson Sophomore (Editor's Note: While readers are probably aware thit we had planned two more articles in Don Baker's UN ANALYSIS series, we feel an explanation is in order ! for the series' abrupt cessation. Mr. Baker enlisted in the U.s! Marine Corps July 25, and at last word, via a quick postcard, he was in training at San Diego. He writes that his drill instructor keeps his time pretty well occupied, occu-pied, as anyone who has ever served in the armed services can believe. Unfortunately he cannot complete the series, which we regret.) |
