Show Wisdom Series Discusses War Of Generations The Jewish-Christian Inter-Faith Inter-Faith Panel will present the eighth of its "To Grow in Wisdom" Wis-dom" series of discussion-dialogues today at 8:00 p.m. in the Union Ballroom. THE DISCUSSION topic, "The War of the Generations", will be opened by a special guest participant, par-ticipant, Dr. Maurice Friedman, Professor of Philosophy. Dr. Friedman is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard and took his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. He has taught at Columbia, Ohio State, University of Chicago, Union Theological Seminary, and Sarah Lawrence College. HE IS THE author of a number num-ber of books and the foremost scholar, interpretor, an dtrans-lator dtrans-lator of the late Jewish theologian, theo-logian, Martin Buber. Other members of the panel will include Dr. Robert E. Hel-bling, Hel-bling, Director of the Honors Program, who will serve as mod erator, and C. M. Gilmour, a Salt Lake attorney. Mr. Gilmour is Chairman of the Department of Christian Social Relations at St. Mark's Cathedral and instigator of the Inter-Faith Panel. DR. LOWELL L. Bennion, Assistant As-sistant Dean of Students, and The Reverend Lawrence P. Sweeney, chaplain of the Newman New-man Center, will also be participants. partici-pants. The panelists will consider contemporary trends contributing contribut-ing to communication barriers between one generation and another, an-other, to loss of respect for law and authority, and to the decline of traditional social units which provide the new generation with foundations for social values and responsibility. The discussion co-sponsored by the Departments of Philosophy, Philos-ophy, Languages, and Continuing Continu-ing Education, is open to all students stu-dents and the general public without charge. |
