Show r Gene Townsend , v i 'Angel' Left On Own Did you hear that nine Air Farce ROTC cadets last week accompanied one "Angel" to a national conclave in Washing- ton D.C., and when the chips were down, wouldn't rescue her from a 6'8" Kansas boy who wanted to do nothing but talk about the evils of drinking and smoking? IT SEEMS that f " ' M nice girls who don't drink or smoke?" "Most of the girls in my room s don't drink or smoke, would you like to meet one of them'" "HOW ABOUT you do you have a date?" he asked. Anyway, she went to the dance with this guy and every time she introduced him to one of her friends, he would shy f away and ask, "She doesn't I drink or smoke does she?" Larry Jensen, former IFC president and a University AF ' cadet major went to the Mili- tary Ball and came out a Colonel after buying Capt. Covington Cov-ington five cocktails. THE UNIVERSITY cadets scheduled their own private i' tour conducted by three sharp f local D.C. girls. j Three other cadets were de- i tained four hours by two FBI men. They had cameras in a security zone of the Pentagon jlC MY HAT'S off to a guy on jon this campus named Frank Kar-lin. Kar-lin. Someone told me that da Mr. Townsend this healthy-huckster healthy-huckster was standing arounxl feeling sorry for himself one night (all the cadets and Angels at the conclave stayed in the Sheraton Park Hotel), so our "Utah" Angel went over to cheer him up. Their conversation went something like this: "I DON'T have a date for the Military Ball, do you know any had three different dates in ff four hours with only a half- ' hour rest period in between. The thing that was really unique about Frank's experience experi-ence was that he dated all licl three girls on 15 cents. :BJ (THE CHEAPEST I ever got ' off on a date was 52 cents be-ft ' cause Dee's downtown has a 25 f cent minimum after 9 p.m.) -li0 Do you know how students :wn at the University of Nevada (at H the Las Vegas branch) stage f protests? They place "keep off in the grass" signs on unplanted s desert areas of the campus. 10 AN EDITORIAL in their cam- pus newspaper, "The Rebel. Yell," told how student leaders decided to forego a planned C legal action to be taken againstfllN the University Board ofw Regents, because the Board of Regents was prejudiced in favor of the Reno Campus. The President of the Univer-JKI sity of Arizona has accepted m "panty-raids" as a way of mod-., em life. DID YOU see what I saw. last week? H" I saw about 100 Army ROTC cadets drilling with shovels in- 5 stead of guns. I guess the Army , has decided to up-date its pro- -gram and give their cadets aL more "working" knowledge. THIS IS a good place for that type of training. Vietnamese mud is a lot softer than Utah's frozenx ground. |
